Artist's Description
The wonderful covered passages in Paris are overlooked by most tourists. As a photographer, that suits me just fine. The lack of crowds gave me the opportunity to take this photo in the Passage du Grand Cerf (cerf translates to deer). This arcade is in Les Halles in the 2nd Arrondissement. Its entrance can be found at 145 rue Saint-Denis. This is one of the oldest streets in Paris, dating from the 1st Century. Passage du Grand Cerf was built between 1825 - 1835, predated by a famous pre-revolution hotel of the same name.
I followed the two women as they window-shopped and captured them in mid stride engaged in a French-English conversation. They exited the passage at rue Dussoubs.
