Artist's Description
Though we live in a coastal town, seldom do we have dense fog in White Rock. On days when we get socked in it is time to get out the camera. Subjects are widely diverse. I have captured some marine and some forest images, some of which appear in my galleries.
Sailboats Berthed in Fog was shot at the end of the White Rock Pier at the Sailing Club docks. Everything was so obscure I really had to boost my ISO, hence a lot of grain, so I played around with some post-processing and chose a film noir filter to present a mood.

Gary Karlsen is a writer and amateur photographer. His rich and varied travels have included sailing the oceans of world on deep-sea freighters, circumnavigating North America by thumb, riding the rails across Canada, flying single engine airplanes into mountain lakes, traveling half the globe as a merchant mariner, and speaking at international conferences as an educator. He has travelled through careers in the construction industry, the teaching profession, and as a television producer.
