Description
Studebaker, based in South Bend, Indiana, began as a manufacturer of horse-drawn carriages, including the famous Budweiser Beer Wagon. The Studebaker brothers, German immigrants to America in the late 1800s began making electric cars in 1902 and gas-powered, in 1904.
They did well as a supplier to the US Military during WWl and WWll. Their truck line competed during those years with Ford and General Motors. Studebaker cars are remembered for their innovative designs. The last Studebaker rolled out of the Hamilton, Ontario plant in 1966.
I shot the photo of this 1947 M-5 Coupe Express, one of just over 23,000 made, on a farm near LaConner, Washington. I shot the photo of this 1947 M-5 Coupe Express, one of just over 23,000 made, on a farm near LaConner, Washington.
